Mount Qaf

Emel, a Turkish journalist, is trying to track down Zahide, a Pakistani friend she met while studying in the United States. Through her investigation, she learns that Zahide has been arrested as part of the CIA rendition program and has in all likelihood been given a new identity in a clandestine project with mysterious aims. As the novel reaches its traumatic climax, Emel's identity begins to disintegrate and we can no longer be sure of who she is and how she is connected to Zahide… Mount Qaf is a mythical mountain, the boundary between the realm of humans and the realm of the spirits.
This gripping multilayered novel explores what would happen if this barrier were to break down when the dark forces of omnipotent security forces were set loose upon the world and the dark forces of the unconscious unleashed upon the self. Acclaimed Turkish author Müge İplikçi has crafted a highly topical, insightful international thriller and psychological mystery that journeys beyond conventional orientations of place, time and identity.
