The Bores - A Comedy in Three Acts

A man in love, a tight deadline—and a parade of talkative pests. In The Bores: A Comedy in Three Acts, Molière delivers a fast-paced and delightfully absurd satire of social annoyances and conversational overkill. Éraste is a man with a mission: he has only a short time to secure approval to marry the woman he loves. But as he rushes to meet his goal, he is constantly interrupted by an endless stream of tiresome bores—know-it-alls, braggarts, pedants, and obsessive sportsmen—each more self-important than the last. Written in verse and originally performed for King Louis XIV, this was Molière’s first comedy for the royal court, blending elegance with sharp observational humor. With each interruption more ridiculous than the one before, the play becomes a brilliant exploration of ego, distraction, and the art of wasting time. Witty, fast-talking, and sharply observant, The Bores is a timeless comedy about the people who just won’t let you get on with your day.
